Hotfix rollup released for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

MicrosoftUpdateCatalog

Big news in deployment right now. Microsoft has release a hotfix rollup is for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. So it’s kinda like Service Pack 1 and a half. There are 4 flavours 2008R2 Itanium/x64 and Windows 7 x86/x64.

You can get it from Microsoft Update Catalog by clicking the link here.

You can then add the updates to your basket and download them.

There’s a Microsoft KB article here. Article KB2775511

The updates are in a format suitable for importing into the Packages folder of your MDT deployment share.

Sorry about the following rant — I know it’s not your fault, I like your blog in general:
the Update Catalog doesn’t work on other platforms. So it’s not a real link. It’s a Windows-only link:
“Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Update Catalog
This website does not offer updates for the operating system on this computer.”

I mean: why? Why do they assume so much? Who says I want to generate a downloadable bundle for /this/ computer?
And why that link to the download center start page? No love for direct links?
The download center is totally useless (I typed “hotfix rollup”, tried the search facettes — tried the offered “Updates” and “Windows 7” at once, how is that usability comparable to any other search portal on the planet?).
Looking on the search results: How I’m I suppossed to find anything in that noise when I’m not already knowing what to look for?

Shouldn’t be to hard for MS to offer a clickable list that generates a bundle and /not/ care what OS I am currently using. Less is more.

Would you recommend slip-streaming the update into the install.wim over adding the update to the packages in MDT? Or is there no real difference in doing either?
